Your heart must be broken too…

As I stand there and watch the little ones play in the freshly fallen snow, I  cannot help but feel the sadness in my soul.  They are so sweet, innocent and carefree. Who would have wanted to hurt them?  And yet the unthinkable happened in Connecticut  as 20 little children got their innocence rudely stolen yesterday.   These little ones are never going to perform in another school concert and will never open another present under the tree.   They will never know what it is like to get dressed up for their graduation;  nor have their dreams realized ; fall in love and have children of their own .

And their parents….. Oh I cannot imagine their pains !!  Their arms so empty without those hugs.  The lives haunted by a deafening silence as they will never hear those sweet voices again.  Parents are not supposed to out live their children, they are not supposed to bury them. And  as I watch their forlorn faces on TV, my heart cry out for them.

It seems like evil has its last laugh and the world got darker today…

But then isn’t it the reason why You came ?  You came to a world that was darkened by violence, oppression and poverty.

That was over two thousand years ago, You wanted to give us hope and to fill our hearts with love and joy.

Sadly things are pretty much the same… the world is still very dark.

Only if that tormented soul understood the real meaning of Christmas, only if he had known You and what You could have done for him…

I cannot forget the image of President Obama as he wiped away the tears in his eyes ” Our hearts are broken.” He said.

But Your heart must be broken too ! For mankind still don’t understand the reason why You came the first place.

It is not about Santa in the mall, not about the brightly wrapped presents under the tree, not about indulging ourselves…

The tragedy reminded us of just that.  We are to be the light in this dark world, to shine and point people to you–

and to live out the meaning of Christmas for all to see.

Hope, joy and love.

light of the world
