It is unusual for this time of year, but there are many constructions going on and driving to and from work is getting to be quite a challenge. I have been spending extra time on the road because of the delays, detours and traffic line up. Unfortunately, it is the story of my life right now: I have been encountering road blocks, closed doors and most of the time I feel like I am running into brick walls: I am going nowhere fast! Patience is never my strong suit, and now frustration and discontentment are building up . Things are not going the way I want.
But then God speaketh…I know that because when He speaks, it is always loud and clear. And He sent me this message not once but twice today. The word of the day is : SEASONS
For starters, this is the devotional I read today ( BMI Spiritual leadership )
“Life flows in seasons. It doesn’t stay the same. Wise people seek to understand what season they are in and then adjust their lives accordingly.”
These words got my attention …
Then later in the day when I shared my frustrations, I got this feedback…”this is not the season for you to do the things you want.”
I am listening now Lord. Please speak:
And He said:
“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. ” Ecclesiastes 3:1
The reality of it is..”sometimes our life is in spring: new possibilities seem to be arising. It is a glorious time of beginnings. At other times we are in summer: we work hard and long. That which we planted in spring begins to grow and mature. Other times we are in autumn: this is harvest time! We finally reap what we had sown in spring and cultivated in summer. Then comes winter: a time of decline, dormancy, and death. All four seasons will come and go throughout our life. And each season has a unique purpose for our life.”
I am definitely in the dead of winter: nothing is happening, no growth…only stillness.
The Word of God pierced my soul, and slowly things starting to make sense. He lifted the scales off my eyes and assured me that there is a time in my life for every purpose. Regardless of what is happening around me, I need to readjust my life to the season I am in, and wisely seek His purpose for the particular season. He puts me in different seasons not for my comfort but to accomplish His plans for me.
The comfort is, in the dead of winter is the season of Advent–A time for hope and joyful anticipation.
