True Friend

Facebook tells me I have 377 friends, which relatively speaking, is not a lot.   For I know some people have over 1000 in their network.  On the other hand I wonder how many among this number are “friends” according to  the Webster Dictionary.  It defines friend as “a person you know well and regard with affection and trust”.

The other day someone posted this very philosophical question on her page, she pondered how many true friends she has….and it got me thinking …

For me, a true friend is someone:

“who sees the pain in your eyes while everyone else believes the smile on your face”…

laughs at your corny jokes and cries with you when you are down…

does not necessary ‘like’ everything thing you post on Facebook or gives you warm fuzzy comments, but dare to ask the tough questions and say the things that you need but not necessary want to hear…

does not care if you do not feel good about it, but says it truthfully in love anyways…

understands how difficult others might think of you, and yet not embarrassed to be seen with you…

despite your failures will remain faithful and help you get up….

not afraid to knock some sense in your head  with one hand and wrap you in his or her arm with the other..

believe in you while others don’t…..

does not agree with everything you do, but loves you regardless…

willing to write hurts in the sand, and carve blessings in stone…

forgive and forget, and will never fling your past wrongdoings in your face…

In my life time I will have many good friends and be friends to many, but true friends are hard to come by, and if by chance you find one, hold on to him.

I did.

And I will not let Him go.
